From The Pastor
It was the beginning of the new school year. The Kindergarten teacher thought a game would be a good way to start the first day. So she asked if there was anyone who knew how to spell the word love. Several of the children gave it a good try yet were unable to complete the word.
Then one little girl walked up to the teacher and motioned for her to lean down. The teacher did and the girl placed her arms around her and gave her a great big hug. The teacher thanked the girl but reminded her that’s not how you spell love. The little girl then replied, “That’s how we spell love in our house.”
The little girl could not spell love, but she clearly knew how to communicate love. Do you? Perhaps the Apostle Paul’s famous words from I Corinthians chapter thirteen can help you communicate the meaning of love.
Paul wrote, “Love is patient, love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.” (I Cor. 13:4-8a)

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
The children will have their annual Valentine’s Day party on Sunday, February 12th following the morning worship service. We will meet upstairs in the main building. If you would like to give valentines this year, I know the children would appreciate it. Since I am not quite sure who will be attending, I would like to ask you to just leave the envelope blank and plan on about 18. Thank you so much for what you do for our children.

YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS
I Corinthians 13:4
Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. February is the month of love. It’s the month of Valentines. Love is a word that is oversized. We love video games, cars, and NC State football. Love is confused with extreme love.
Love, true love, is something from God. We are loved by God. Christ showed ultimate love.
In Greek, there are different types of love: brotherly love, romantic love, but Christ showed true love.
Try to practice true love more often. Treat others with the love Christ showed.
I would love that.
February 5th – Super Bowl Party at Erin Elmore’s home. Young Adults and Youth are invited. Please tell us early if you are planning to come.

Our Operation Inasmuch effort the last two years has been a tremendous success and a wonderful blessing for our community and for our church. The date for Operation Inasmuch 2012 has been set for April 28, 2012 with a rain makeup date of May 5th. Please reserve these dates on your calendars so that you will be able to participate in this wonderful outreach to our community. We look forward to strong participation again this year. Watch the newsletter and bulletins for information that will be shared during the planning process. We plan to repeat several projects and to develop some new projects this year and would consider your suggestions for projects. Please keep the planning committee in your prayers.
